Description : Swamiyar Madom Charitable Trust (NGO Darpan ID - ), Thirunakkara, Kottayam is established for the conservation of the Swamiyar Madom hermitage situated in Thirunakkara, Kottayam as well as for the propagation of Indian Knowledge Systems, Sanskrit and Indian Philosophical traditions. The hermitage was established by the disciples of Toṭakācārya who was the direct disciple of Sree Sankaracharyar. The trust has an academic wing entitled ‘Prasaram ​Saṃskṛta Samājam’ for the research and learning in Sanskrit and allied subjects. Prof.P.V.Viswanathan Nampoothiri (Retd. Professor and Reader in Sanskrit, Baselios College, Kottayam) is the director of this wing. It has been publishing a number of texts, reference books, translations and learning materials on Indian Knowledge Systems and Sanskrit. Prasaram has been conducted 3 year learning programmes for those who are interested in these subjetcs since 2009. Many students including professionals, householders, students, farmers and buisinessmen, irrespective of religion, cast, creed, gender and age are taking the benefit of this programme. The department of sanskrit, Sree Sankara College Kalady is collaborated with the trust by engaging several classes for this initiative. The trust also is cooperated with the department by sharing their learning materials, texts and other facilities for the academic activities organised in Sree Sankara College Kalady.
