Department Profile

The department of mathematics Sree Sankara College , Kalady were established in the year 1957 . Prof. Lakshmi Nataraj was  the H.O.D  Ours is a U.G dept. and we were also handling complimentary course in Mathematics for B.Sc Physics, B.Sc Chemistry and B.Sc Statistics students. We have also an open course viz. “Applicable Mathematics” which attracts students  from all departments because we were providing necessary skills for preparing competitive exams like P.S.C , U.P.S.C , Banks etc. , Our optinal paper: Opertional Research” is very beneficial to students those who want join for M Sc , M.B.A, M.C.A etc 

                                                             We  have up to 40 students in every batch and many are completing the course with good  results and are placed in well known institutions after completing their higher level education’We are also keen to conduct PTA meeting which enable us to interact with the parents for the betterments of their wards, Alumina meetings were conducted  once in a year to motivate their juniors and to give them information about various new areas were they can pursue their carrier.

                                                             Our association is very active in doing a wonderful job in overall development of students. They are conducting Seminars , Workshops, Quiz Competitions, Debates on Current affairs, Group discussions,  celebrating festivals, Giving welcome and farewell. They  are also keen to conducting outreach progremmes  like exhibition , games. Celebrating Indian mathematics days( Sreenivasa Ramanujan’s birthday ) etc.

                                                             We have an Alumni Association and are conducting meetings regularly.They have conducted two carrier guidance programmes also.
