DDU Kaushal Kendra, Sree Sankara College Kalady

DDU KAUSHAL Kendra of Sree Sankara College Kalady is offering Bachelor of Vocation in Renewable Energy Management since the academic year 2015-16. The program is well taken by students and well accepted by the Renewable Energy industries in Kerala. A glimpse of the Department of Renewable Energy Management Sree Sankara College, founded in the year 1954, is a pioneer educational institution in Kerala. The institution was established with a view to perpetuate the memory and doctrines of the great saint and philosopher Adi Sankaracharya and to nurture his birth place as a cultural citadel. The vision and mission of the institution was to establish a centre of higher learning with two major objectives- dissemination of knowledge in accordance with university curriculum and fostering community development. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. DDU KAUSHAL Kendra (Deen Dayal Upadhayay Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Upgradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood) is an academic innovation i.e. higher education introduced by UGC during 12th plan period. The scheme aims at skill development based higher education as a part of college/university education.

Sree Sankara College, Kalady has been granted with DDU KAUSHAL Kendra- A Centre for Knowledge Acquisition and Up-gradation of Skilled Human Abilities and Livelihood- in 2015-16. The Bachelor of Vocation (B.Voc) degree courses of this centre focus on providing under graduate education with due emphasis on skill training for specific job roles, along with broad based general education. The centre also provides one year Diploma programmes which aims to fill the dearth of skilled workforce in pertinent areas by imparting and enhancing particular skills.

The DDU Kaushal Kendra offers B.Voc degree programs in Renewable Energy Management, Diploma in Solar PV Panel Installation and Maintenance and also other B.Voc degrees in Tourism & Hospitality, Broadcasting & Journalism and diploma programs related to it.

B.Voc Renewable Energy Management

B. Voc Renewable Energy Management under DDU Kaushal Kendra at Sree Sankara College, Kalady was established in the year 2016-17 to impart Skill Education in the field of Renewable Energy Management to cater the ever increasing need of the trained manpower in the field of Renewable Energy sector. It prepares the students in theoretical as well as practical aspects of renewable energy technologies, energy conservation, and management. Department of Renewable Energy Management is also well set to offer the newly sanctioned M.Voc Degree program in Renewable Energy Management which is of its first kind underMahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam.

Mission

The Mission of Renewable Energy Management courses at Sree Sankara College, Kalady is to equip the youth to grab the arising job opportunities associated with the increasing challenges in the energy sector. UGC approval, Mahatma Gandhi University affiliation, NSDC, Sector Skill Council for Green Jobs, Govt. of India, registration (SCGJ - NSDC Reg. No.: 16400) showcases the high standards of the course. The Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with various national and international industries ensures opportunities for student internship and placement.
