Tarini, the reading club of the Research and Postgraduate Department of English celebrated the Bharatiya Bhasha Utsav on 13th December 2022 with activities to promote language harmony and awareness among students. As per the UGC directive it is was held under the Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiatives of Sree Sankara CollegeKalady.
The programme was organized in the College seminar hall. The programme started with a prayer in te Telegu language. This was followed by an inspiring talk by the Principal Dr Preethi Nair, who spoke about the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship using regional language tools. Thereafter students gave talks in both Hindi and Malayalam about the importance of our regional languages and the cultural diversity of the nation. Teachers and students recited poems in different languages and a few language games were conducted by the first year students. A small token of appreciation was given to all the participants and the programme concluded with a beautiful song that carried the message of our heterogeneity and the unity we share despite it.
