Students of Sree Sankara College are coming forward with the intention of making Kalady, a plastic free town. As a start, hundreds of students will gather to remove plastic and other solid wastes from the private bus stand and its surrounding area. The programme is being implemented with the cooperation of National Services Scheme (NSS) Sree Sankara College Unit, National Cadet Crops (NCC) and Bhoomithra Sena. It is envisaged that such waste removal programme will be conducted at least once in 10 days during busy season. In addition, waste bins will set up in different parts of the town for the collection and disposal of plastic waste. The official inauguration of the project will be held on Tuesday, December 7 at 9.30 am near the Panchayat Private Bus Stand by the Panchayat President Shri MP Antony.
